When I started NORTH BEACH GIRL, I couldn't believe what I was reading. I felt transported back to that world in a way no writer has ever transported me before. Each sentence is like a crystal lens. Every time I picked up the book, and started reading Trinian's slow, meandering, sinewy sentences, I felt like I'd put some kind of syfy helmet and visor on, and was having a virtual or an alternate reality experience. His prose is mesmerizing, and so are his characters. I agree--these are probably the two best Gold Medals I've ever read. I hope he's written more, and I hope they're available. Even though the new cover on this omnibus edition doesn't at all represent either book, I still like it for some reason. Knowing what the books are about, the contrast between the gaudy, 60s, beach-bimbo movie image of the dancing girl and the noir content lends another dark aspect to the package.

Great critique, Cullen. Thanks for sharing…and clarifying many things in the books for me.Peter Brandvoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12008419428583093754noreply@blogger.com
