Miss California and Miss USA runner-up, Carrie Prejean, tossed around in the battle over gay marriage, will be a one-day guest host for Fox News Channel's popular morning show Fox & Friends, Whispers learns. She will host the 6 a.m.-to-7 a.m. slot on May 27, filling in for Gretchen Carlson—the 1989 Miss America—who will be off that day.
The decision to make her a one-day cohost was finalized yesterday—the same day Prejean and Miss USA owner Donald Trump appeared on Fox & Friends.
Suzanne Scott, Fox vice president for programming, filled me in on the details of the gig for Prejean, who was thrust into the headlines when she rejected gay marriage during the Q&A part of the pageant. "We're just using her one time," she said, "to sit with the boys and have some fun." The boys are cohosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. "She has become a national celebrity in the last few weeks, and it's a fun thing to do," said Scott. "It's a good way to try get a little buzz and fun for the show. We'll see what happens with it," she added.
Ed here: First of all the two dumbest Celts who've ever trod the earth are Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. Second of all replacing Gretchen Carlson with Carrie Prejean is like replacing George W. Bush with Glen Beck.
Only Fox.
Steve Doocy, before he was inflicted upon the nation by Fox, was the "humor" commentator for the NBC affilate in DC. You can imagine how that was. The comedian and actor Patton Oswalt has a routine about how the same station's inane cultural reviewer Arch Campbell helped chase him out of DC exurb Sterling, VA, but Doocy made it utterly impossible for me to watch WRC local news (not that it took much to dissuade me from wathcing the typical wrap-up of local traffic accidents). You can imagine how little I see FOX AND FRIENDS.
ReplyDeleteCheck today's Politico. Prejean and Palin. Mutual admiration society. Yecch!
ReplyDeleteA perfect match. She looks like the other blonde newscasters on Fox.
ReplyDeleteShe's done a lot of semi-nude modeling (see Huffington Post galleries), yet for the beauty pageant has acquired a religious persona. The two don't equate, and she's denied she ever posed for more than one topless photo. Is she simply a calculating gal who figured out that she had a better chance at a title if she did some God-talk? Or is she, as Sarah Palin insists, a saintly and devout girl being assailed by nasty liberals? You can bet that Fox news will conduct a soft interview

The moral of this story is never underestimate the benefits of being a fairly attractive looking right wing nut. And if she'd won the beauty pageant we'd never have heard of her again.
ReplyDelete***the only way for these beasts to go away is to starve them out...and paying attention only gives them the fuel they crave.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect photograph...an expression full of resentment for what "we" force and have forced her to do to herself to be what she is now. "We" really should stop forcing her to wear ridiculous makeup, mutilate her breasts, and put herself under the sway of Donald Trump. No, really, "we" should.
ReplyDeleteIt took Robin Givhan of the Washington Post to enlighten me:
ReplyDeleteMiss Prejean is in every respect and detail, a Barbie Doll.

I can't imagine watching "Fox and Friends" unless it was to be purely ironic.
