Years ago I worked in a department store w/ an elderly gentleman in Waterville, Maine. When he was a young man, he hung out at the Lakewood Theater, a summer stock theater in Skowhegan, Maine. One summer he befriended a young Keenan Wynn and Humphrey Bogart, acting in a play at the theater. During the big dances held at the resort, occasionally the spotlight operator would focus on one couple as they slow danced. The aforementioned trio would race around the perimeter of the dance floor trying to get the best view of the woman's form being illuminated through her dress by the spotlight.
They're all beautiful things but my fingers keep scrolling to the top pic.
ReplyDeleteTough life that Bogie, huh?
Very timely since I read Bill Crider's "We'll Always Have Murder" a couple weeks ago.
We saw a lot of his artwork since my husband's doing some work on him. He was quite an interesting artist.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm talking about Kerouac.

ReplyDeleteJeff P.
Do you think Bogart is recalling the line from The Malteset Falcon " . . . the stuff dreams are made of"?
ReplyDeleteEd, Bogie's just making sure a mole of hers looks safe...
