Three days of the most
intensive health-testing procedures I've ever had. Exhausting physically
and mentally. All to see if I was strong enough to survive and prosper
from a Stem Cell Transplant. Conclusion: the cancer has significantly
advanced into bone but not bone marrow. So: completely different
approach with types of cancer meds, complete change in diet (need to
drop 20-25 pounds), aggressive exercise program and a rethink of the
first cancer I had which was thyroid and which for years has been
causing (Mayo feels now) both my considerable weight gain and terrible
fatigue. All this directed to my March 1, 2013 Stem Cell Transplant up
there.
Thank you everybody for all your supportive e mails and best wishes. I really appreciate it.
Best Ed
Wow, Ed. My best wishes to you.
ReplyDeleteEd - all prayers and thoughts are with you; sounds like you've got a great new battle plan. I'm no stranger to this, so keep fighting the good fight.
ReplyDeleteMr. Gorman, my prayers and best wishes are with you for a speedy and complete recovery. Good luck with your new regimen. It takes a great deal of courage and mental strength to be able to sit down and post this.
ReplyDeleteHearing things like this sends an icy jolt through me. All my wishes for a full recovery to you.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and good vibes, Ed.
ReplyDeleteEd-glad to see a new game plan is in place. I have had thryoid problems for fifteen years and the weight gain that goes with it. Actually, I worry about taking that medication for so long.
ReplyDeleteWe ALL think about you everyday, wondering how you are.
All told, though, this sounds like good, if exhausting, news. May all work well and less tiringly from here on out!
ReplyDeleteSounds like great news that you're good for the stem-cell procedure. The news alone must take a load off your mind. Yet one more reason to celebrate Obama's win, as the forces of darkness might have outlawed stem cell treatment.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing all you can, with courage and grace. I hope it is effective, and this is the start of a good chapter.
ReplyDeleteYour name has come up a lot here at NoirCon, Ed. Wishing you all the best. Stay strong! And take care.
ReplyDeleteEd, my very warmest wishes to you in dealing with these challenges. Like everyone else I so hope to hear positive news from you in due course.
ReplyDeleteMr. Gorman, good to have you back blogging. From what i hear, that Mayo clinic is top and if they have a plan that is good news. Wishing you all the best!

ReplyDeleteHope all goes well, Ed. The Mayo gets a terrific reputation and I've spoken to patients and staff who confirm that. My thoughts will be with you.
