Tom Piccirilli has died

When Rich Chizmar told me this this morning I almost refused to believe it. Tom and I have been friends since the early 90s. We have a two part novel coming out sometime this year. He was a wonderful guy and a honestly brilliant writer. He had been battling brain cancer on and off for at least three years. My best to his wife Michelle.

This really sucks.

I'm saddened to hear Tom died. I was introduced to his work in the early-2000s when I read his fine novel THE NIGHT CLASS. He was a gifted novelist, short story writer, and poet. I exchanged a few emails with him several years ago and I have followed his career with interest.

Met Tom over 20 years ago. What a talent, and what a shame!

To quote Kate Atkinson, "When will there be good news?"

Damn, that's terrible news. Tom was a long-time friend and a genuinely good person, as well as one of the best new voices in crime fiction since the millennium. He'll be sorely missed by all of us who knew him.
