HALO FOR HIRE: THE COMPLETE PAUL PINE by Howard Browne

HALO FOR HIRE: THE COMPLETE PAUL PINE by Howard Browne

Not much to add on this title at the moment, except to say that work progresses and we thought we'd give you a look back at some of the covers to the original presentation of the "Paul Pine" stories by Howard Browne (aka John Evans):

• HALO IN BLOOD
• HALO FOR SATAN
• HALO IN BRASS
• "So Dark for April" from MANHUNT
• THE TASTE OF ASHES
• "The Paper Gun"

I look forward to this.

Said it before and I'll say it again, this is, for my money, the finest Chandler-influenced detective fiction ever published.

Pour a couple drinks into me and I might even argue that The Taste of Ashes beats the master at his own game.

If you love hardboiled fiction, you need this.

I completely agree with John Hocking. In fact, I might make that claim for The Taste of Ashes after only one drink. It is one of the greatest PI novels of all time.

I was pleased to meet Howard Browne at one of the California Bouchercons. I told him how much I enjoyed all the Pine novels but, most of all, The Taste of Ashes. I've given away many copies through the years.
